United to Serve: United Way Launches Community Tour Across Jefferson County

This May, the United Way of Jefferson County is taking its mission directly into the heart of the community through a new initiative called United to Serve — a month-long community tour designed to bring people together around local restaurants, meaningful conversations, and life-changing impact.

Throughout the month, United Way Executive Director Marci Snyder-Crawford will be stepping out from behind the desk and into restaurants across Jefferson County, serving guests, meeting community members, and raising awareness for the programs and services supported through United Way.

But organizers say this initiative is about much more than dining out.

Every tip left at the table, every donation given, and every person who chooses to participate helps strengthen programs that are making a real difference for local families every single day.

Funds raised through the United to Serve tour help support critical initiatives including:

  • 2-1-1, connecting families to essential resources and emergency assistance

  • Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, putting free books into the hands of local children

  • Meals of Hope, helping fight food insecurity throughout the community

  • Day of Action, mobilizing volunteers to serve local nonprofits and neighborhoods

  • United Sole, providing shoes, socks, and essentials to children in need

The initiative also shines a light on the broader mission of United Way of Jefferson County, which currently supports 11 local partner agencies addressing needs in health, education, and financial stability — with the opportunity to expand support to nine additional organizations in the future.

“This tour is really about connection,” Snyder-Crawford said. “It’s about meeting people where they are, sharing the stories behind the work we do, and reminding our community that when we come together, we can make a tremendous impact.”

United to Serve reflects the spirit behind the United Way mission: neighbors helping neighbors and communities growing stronger together. By partnering with local restaurants and inviting the public to take part, the initiative creates a simple but powerful opportunity for residents to give back while supporting local businesses at the same time.

Community members are encouraged to attend one or multiple stops throughout the month, enjoy a meal, and be part of something bigger than themselves.

Because every meal shared…

every conversation started…

and every act of generosity…

helps Jefferson County LIVE UNITED.
