A spirit of friendly competition and community impact is set to take center stage May 11–15 as the United Way of Jefferson County launches its inaugural Most United School Challenge.

Four local schools — Edison Local, Catholic Central, Buckeye Local, and Indian Creek — are stepping forward to take part in a week-long initiative focused on service, generosity, and student leadership.

More than just a competition, the challenge encourages students to live out the values of compassion and community through volunteering, collecting donations, and performing acts of kindness. Each effort, big or small, contributes to a larger goal: strengthening Jefferson County.

At the end of the week, one school will be named the Most United School 2026 Champion. However, organizers emphasize that the true success of the initiative lies in the collective impact made by students across all participating schools.

“This is about empowering young people to lead with heart,” organizers shared. “When students come together to serve others, they don’t just change lives — they shape the future of our community.”

As the challenge approaches, excitement continues to build, with students, faculty, and families preparing to rally behind their schools and make a difference.

In Jefferson County, the message is clear: when students lead, the entire community grows stronger. 💙
